2 Chronicles 1:11 KJV
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
Isn’t it strange where individuals seek out wisdom! How is it there is so much relevance placed on a higher level of education within the world? As believers, we know how God sees the world’s wisdom, yet so many chase after it, in order to as scripture states be as the Gentiles. 1 Corinthians 3:18-20 KJV
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. [19] For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. [20] And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
Those who pursue present things most eagerly are likely to be disappointed; while those that refer themselves to the providence of God, if they have not the most, have the most comfort.
Those that make this world their end, come short of the other, and are disappointed in this also; but those that make the other world their end, shall not only obtain that, and full satisfaction in it, but shall have as much of this world as is good for them, in their way. Let us then be contented, without those great things which men generally covet, but which commonly prove fatal snares to the soul.
Solomon, having a humble sense of his own wants and weakness, pleads, Lord, I am but a little child. The more wise and considerate men are, the better acquainted they are with their own weakness and the more jealous of themselves. Solomon begs of God to give him wisdom. We must pray for it, James 1:5, that it may help us in our particular calling, and the various occasions we have.
Those are accepted of God, who prefer spiritual blessings to earthly good. It was a prevailing prayer and prevailed for more than he asked. God gave him wisdom, such as no other prince was ever blessed with; and also gave him riches and honour. If we make sure of wisdom and grace, these will bring outward prosperity with them or sweeten the want of it. The way to get spiritual blessings is to wrestle with God in prayer for them. The way to get earthly blessings, is to refer ourselves to God concerning them.
Have you ever known anyone who claimed to be wise but who acted foolishly? True wisdom can be measured by the depth of a person’s character. Just as you can identify a tree by the type of fruit it produces, you can evaluate your wisdom by the way you behave.
Foolishness leads to disorder, but wisdom leads to peace and goodness. Are you tempted to escalate conflict, pass on gossip, or fan the fire of discord? Careful, winsome speech and wise, loving words are the seeds of peace. God loves peacemakers (Matthew 5:9).
As we delve deeper into what wisdom we should seek scripture reveals areas to be cautious with in our pursuit of wisdom.
James 3:13-16 KJV
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. [14] But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. [15] This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. [16] For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
These verses show the difference between men’s pretending to be wise and their being really so. He who thinks well, or he who talks well, is not wise in the sense of the scripture if he does not live and act well. True wisdom may be known by the meekness of the spirit and temper. Those who live in malice, envy and contention, live in confusion; and are liable to be provoked and hurried to any evil work.
Such wisdom comes not down from above but springs up from earthly principles, acts on earthly motives, and is intent on serving earthly purposes. Those who are lifted up with such wisdom, described by the apostle James, is near to the Christian love, described by the apostle Paul; and both are so described that every man may fully prove the reality of his attainments in them.
It has no disguise or deceit. It cannot fall in with those managements the world counts wise, which are crafty and guileful; but it is sincere, and open, and steady, and uniform, and consistent with itself. May the purity, peace, gentleness, teachableness, and mercy shown in all our actions and the fruits of righteousness abounding in our lives, prove that God has bestowed upon us this excellent gift.
It is here; I ponder how many will come to recognize the value of pausing and assessing where they are in their walks and personal relationships with Yeshua. That in those moments of meditation would recognize what form of wisdom was being pursued and where it was being endowed from? Whether heavenly or earthly and what fruits it is producing.

Robert a humble obedient servant to Yeshua and his Father in heaven Yahewa.
