To abide in the faith of the gospel is not enough, we must abound in the work of faith. The rule according to which all ought to walk and act, is the commandments given by the Lord Jesus Christ. Sanctification, in the renewal of their souls under the influences of the Holy Spirit, and attention to appointed duties, constituted the will of God respecting them. In aspiring after this renewal of the soul unto holiness, strict restraint must be put upon the appetites and senses of the body, and on the thoughts and inclinations of the will, which lead to wrong uses of them.
As we enter into the winter season and one of the world’s seasonal festivals which becomes a great test for believers not to fall into this Pagan festival known as “Saturnalia,” and in order to be a part of this Pagan festival, Christians justify the belief and this festival which the World aknowledges as “Christmas” and Rationalize it is to be celebrated in remembrance of the Lord’s birth, which has no scriptural support. It has been said there is confusion in the Ecclesia and Assemblies, rightfully so. The fact today’s teachings lack the truth and believers hesitate to follow gospel truth even when presented, because the Assembly doesn’t approve or this is how it has been done for centuries (Christmas, Easter,Palm Sunday), states volumes of why there is confusion.
When one stands before you and places spiritual truths and challenges the basis and foundation of your walk; and you’re afraid to stop, perhaps step back and assess the basis of your walk and foundational information guiding you, there definitely is something amiss.
