Is it wrong for us to desire to be active as individuals or as fans of either Athletics or Professional theatre or even minor events we find entertaining or stimulating as individuals? “NO” however, there is a moment in time which must be honoured for a 24-hour period where these luxuries, vanities and self-indulgences must be set aside. Not given up totally, just set aside for what we are to honour as the Lord’s Day.
But then, whoever listens to an individual you believe is trying to remove all your fleshly appeasements, you have enjoyed all these past years. Nobody told me these were not right to do on a Sunday (Lord’s Day). So why is it so important to be observed now?
The actual reason for observance is time, simply time, time to be in the presence of God preparing for our Lord’s return. As a Watchman, I have been shown to sound the Trumpet that there is an error within the Assemblies teachings and interpretation of the Ecclesia of what keeping the Seventh-day the Sabbath, commonly known in the Assemblies as the Lord’s Day, (Sunday) as Holy.
Except for those who walk worldly, many attend church services, receive the sacrament and teachings as guidance for the rest of the week, some fellowship after the service. They disperse to their daily routines of life with family or friends or simply entertain themselves. What is wrong with that scenario? What more can be expected of people they need to live? As there is plenty of life to be enjoyed and taken in? And besides, they have observed the Lord’s Day through weekly attendance and continued service during the following week.
You have totally missed the question here; we are looking at what Yeshua meant to keep this day Holy. Now here is where it becomes a really touching point for believers who have walked a certain way for decades without any consequences.
When we investigate what Yehuwa means by keeping it Holy, we ask this question. Does keeping the Lord’s Day holy stop at the end of the services attended or does keeping the Lord’s Day Holy continue for the full 24 hour period? Let’s look at the Scripture, as we don’t want to use man’s wisdom and justifications. I called out to the Lord where do I begin? My research took me to Exodus 20:10 KJV
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it, thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: Now I wanted to go deeper with this as I know when the Lord gives a command there are many facets in it to discern. This verse laid it out plain; however, I wanted more detail and went to the commentary of Matthew Henry, which made it quite clear what Yahweh was saying in His command. The form of the fourth commandment, “Remember,” shows that it was not now first given but was known by the people before. One day in seven is to be kept holy. Six days are allotted to worldly business, but not so as to neglect the service of God and the care of our souls. On those days we must do all our work and leave none to be done on the sabbath day. Christ allowed works of necessity, charity, and piety; for the sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath, Mark 2:27; but all works of luxury, vanity, or self-indulgence in any form, are forbidden. Trading, paying wages, settling accounts, writing letters of business, worldly studies, trifling visits, journeys, or light conversation, are not keeping this day holy to the Lord.
In Matthew Henry’s commentary which many today will want to ignore or not deal with, we clearly see the answer is, over the 24 hour period. Keeping the day Holy. For me personally, once I found this out it was a battle between the fleshly desires to be satisfied and not being a hypocrite, as well, coming before “God” and asking Him for forgiveness for having in ignorance ignored him all these years.
The answer to keeping this day Holy will be to devise a routine which allows God as the center of your days activities, in other words where you are not satisfying any of these three, luxury, vanity, or self-indulgence! In order to do this, you will need to define the three to see how they can be eliminated from your life and family lives, for 24 hours. So you all can be with our Lord keeping His Day Holy. It is not called the Lord’s Day to be observed for 2 or three hours, but for a full day which includes a period when you will sleep.
Here is what I have discerned from this research on how I will spend my time with God and His Son Yeshua now.
Since I conducted this research, the following is how I now spend my Lord’s Day. My Lord’s Day (the day I observe as the Sabbath and consider the seventh day), is in prayer and meditation all day. This now gives me a day alone with Him. So, I can marvel at his great love and compassion for me, being so insignificant within his creations yet so important to Him. This is my time, to praise and, in humility, share my love, respect and full gratitude for God and Yeshua for what they have provided as gifts, guidance and, protection over these last six days.
Now, with a strengthened spirit and nutured soul, I am prepared to receive guidance to discern and understand God’s calling of what He desires of me during the coming week. It is a very peaceful time, a very private togetherness deepening my love for Him making my life easy to dedicate as service in His will. Knowing each Sabbath, we will be together fulfilling His command of “Keeping it Holy!”
Blessings to All, keeping this in mind. No greater love can a man demonstrate than to tell a truth which may offend some but save the souls of others who have an ear to hear an eye to see, and the wisdom to get past their pride and ego take control over their body and do the right thing by obeying God’s command by “KEEPING HIS DAY HOLY!”
