Job resolved to cleave to the testimony his own conscience gave of his uprightness. He depended upon God for justification and salvation, the two important things we hope for through Christ. Temporal salvation he little expected, but of his eternal salvation he was noticeably confident; that God would not only be his Saviour to make him happy but his salvation, in the sight and enjoyment of whom he should be happy. He knew himself not to be a hypocrite and concluded that he should not be rejected. We should be well pleased with God as a friend, even when he seems against us as an enemy. We must believe that all shall work for good to us, even when all seems to make it against us. We must cleave to God, yeah, though we cannot for the present to find comfort in him. In a dying hour, we must derive from him living comforts, and this is to trust in him, though he slays us.
Those that expect any good counsel or comfort, otherwise than from God, and in the way of his institutions, will be as wretchedly disappointed as Saul. Though terrified even to despair, he was not humbled. He confessed not his sins, offered no sacrifices, and presented no supplications. He does not seem to have cared about his sons or his people or to have attempted any escape; but in sullen despair, he rushed upon his doom. God sets up a few such beacons, to warn men not to stifle convictions or despise his word. But while one repenting thought remains, let no sinner suppose himself in this case. Let him humble himself before God, determined to live and die beseeching his favour, and he will succeed.
The word of God directs us in our work and way, and in a dark place indeed, the world would be without it. The commandment is a lamp kept burning with the oil of the Spirit as a light to direct us in the choice of our way and the steps we take in that way. The keeping of God’s commands here meant was that of a sinner under a dispensation of mercy, of a believer having part in the covenant of grace.
To have our soul or life continually in our hands implies constant danger of life, yet he did not forget God’s promises nor his precepts. Numberless are the snares laid by the wicked, and happy is that servant of God, whom they have not caused to err from his Master’s precepts. Heavenly treasures are a heritage forever; all the saints accept them as such; therefore, they can be content with little of this world. We must look for comfort only in the way of duty, and that duty must be done. A good man, by the grace of God, brings his heart to his work and then says that it is done well.
I see and recognize your silence and lack of presence as a rebuke of my walk.
I say to you all obedience to God’s call is a taskmaster one does not in good conscience refuse. In loving and serving our father, I know he will put us in positions of suffering the same humiliations and rebukes he endured.
If we are not willing to suffer in His name, we then cannot be an obedient servant. If your comfort and appearance before the world is more important than delivering the truth, you are lacking in your relationship with Yeshua.
I stand before the world and openly proclaim my devotion to the Lord knowing the world will hate me and want me dead or silenced because I am exposing them to the light. And we all know who the light is and what he’s quite capable of doing.
So when I see you not present or expressing your disdain by absence I remember what Yeshua said in his last moments, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. You see, he also said if they rebuke you, they rebuke me, and if they rebuke me, they rebuke the one who sent me.
I hope the message is clear. I am merely a servant being obedient unto the Father’s will delivering his word as called to do.
