John 13:34-35 KJV
A new commandment I give unto you That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. [35] By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another.

OPENING STATEMENT by Robert

How many followers and sincere believers realize their position within their journey should be doing it as modern-day disciples. But before I get a rash of rebukes that not everyone is a disciple, let me explain. My research throughout the numerous articles published over the last 14 years has shown all who heed the same call Yeshua put forward to the disciples of His day is no different today.
Simply put, Yeshua called His disciples by asking, “follow me.” As believers, we are asked the same “follow me.” So, today having been asked by the Lord and receiving the same teachings through the Holy Spirit as the early disciples did. In my mind and reasoning because our Lord has called us to go out and spread the word as He did his multitude of disciples. Today, whether those walking within Salvation realize it their acceptance of Yeshua as their Saviour is an answer to the call “Follow Me,” and in the same light places you in the same category as Yeshua’s disciples.

Here is something which Christ instructs them in, concerning his sufferings, that was very comforting (1) That he should himself be glorified in them. Now the Son of man is to be exposed to the greatest ignominy and disgrace, To be despitefully used to the last degree, and dishonoured both by the cowardice of his friends and the insolence of his enemies yet now he is glorified. For, [1] Now he is to obtain a glorious victory over Satan and all the powers of darkness, to spoil them, and triumph over them. He is now girding on the harness to take the field against these adversaries of God and man. With as great an assurance as if he had put it off. [2] Now, he is to work out a glorious deliverance for his people, by his death to reconcile them to God. And bring in everlasting righteousness and happiness for them to shed that blood, which is to be an inexhaustible fountain of joys and blessings to all believers. [3] Now he is to give a glorious example of self-denial and patience under the cross, courage and contempt of the world, zeal for the glory of God, and love to the souls of men, such as will make him be forever admired and had in honour. Christ had been glorified in many miracles he had wrought, and yet he speaks of his being glorified now in his sufferings.

As “Modern Day Disciples,” our walk, faith, and discernment like the early “Apostles” have been deepened, we are being drawn into an intensely personal relationship with Yeshua. Having been shown, there will be moments of turmoil which, like Peter, will frighten us as we may not entirely understand. Because of our relationship with our Lord, we will call out for his assistance when we believe we are failing, not realizing we have in our spirit doubted what we have received as truth in our teachings from the Holy Spirit.PEOPLE 8

Matthew Henry (1662 – 1774) brings to light a reflection we need to ponder on in his commentary.Special supports are promised and are to be expected, but only in spiritual pursuits; nor can we ever come to Yeshua, unless we are upheld by his power. Yeshua bade Peter come, not only that he might walk upon the water, and so know his Lord’s power, but that he might know his own weakness. And the Lord often lets his servants have their choice, to humble and prove them, and to show the greatness of his power and grace. When we look off from Yeshua and look at the importance of opposing difficulties, we shall begin to fall; but when we call to him, he will stretch out his arm and save us.

Yeshua (Jesus Christ) is the great Saviour; those who would be saved must come to him, and cry to him, for Salvation; we are never brought to this, till we find ourselves sinking: the sense of need drives us to him. He rebuked Peter. Could we but believe more, we should suffer less.

The weakness of faith and the prevailing of our doubts displease our Lord, for there is no good reason why Yeshua’s disciples should be of a doubtful mind. Even on a stormy day, he is to them a very present help. None but the world’s Creator could multiply the loaves, none but its Governor could tread upon the waters of the sea: the disciples yield to the evidence, and confess their faith. They were suitably affected and worshipped, Yeshua. He that comes to God must believe, and he that believes in God will come (Hebrews 11:6.)”

Please remember these articles are the work of a humble servant of Yeshua doing HIs bidding as a Watchmen sounding the Trumpet to warn of impending danger within the Assembly. May our Father abundantly bless each one of you with wisdom and discernment to go forward as “Modern Day Disciples.”

Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee, Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Yeshua is everlasting strength(Isaiah 26:3-4)
