Ecclesiastes 2:24 shows life should be lived to the fullest. Solomon was not expressing the hedonistic view seen in the phrase, “take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.” (Luke 12:19). Rather, he is suggesting that man should keep the pleasures that he enjoys in his life in perspective with his responsibility to God (1Tim 4:4,5;6:17). It should be understood that all good things that come about as a result of the fulfillment of fleshly desires are “vanity.”
