How many times we pass a sign and do not see what it holds as a message. When we first see the sign and its message we recognize it and see the message, however as we continue to pass by the sign it becomes mentally invisible to us the message holds little meaning as we have become familiar with it. In our minds we know what it means and because nothing, it is warning us about, has occurred, we become comfortable with what is familiar.
To many in the Ecclesia suffer from this syndrome known as being familiar or I know that so why am I being reminded or bothered with this information. I’ve been walking with the Lord for years and studied the scriptures daily so why these repeated simple things I learned when I first accepted the lord.
Here is where familiar becomes dangerous, remember I stated Satan is a legalist and knows the scriptures as such and applies them. Familiarity breeds contempt and comtempt opens the door to treating repeated learned and practiced information as beneath one’s dignity.
Luke 10:27-28
[27]And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
[28]And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
Thus the information coming to us as reinforcement is lacking in strength or substance, offering little in weight solidity or importance. Thus this information becomes slighted and unimportant and is made light of and treated with disdain.
The question I have for believers who have been walking and dine on the meat of the word, why are you suffering from this malady within your walk called being FAMILIAR, and like the signs you ignore as you pass them by, treat new spiritual information in the same manner as being familiar and because the warning hasn’t come to pass become comfortable and complacent within your walk.
As believers, It is bad not to do good ourselves; but it is worse to hinder those who would do good. Cautions and counsels are most likely to be accepted, which are seasoned with love.
Follow that which is good, for he that doeth good, as delighting therein, is born of God. Evil-workers vainly pretend or boast acquaintance with God. Let us not follow that which is proud, selfish, and of bad design, though the example may be given by persons of rank and power; but let us be followers of God, and walk-in love, after the example of our Lord.
