“THE POWER OF ONE WORD!”
PRE-AMBLE by Robert
There is no fear in love (1 John 4:18); so far as love prevails, fear ceases.
OPENING COMMENT by Robert
Here we see the power of Love’s ability to improve our lives but wait this will only happen, once we exercise our will to accept this love from God. But here are Satan’s weapons used against the ecclesia.
We have multiple luxuries at our fingertips, instant knowledge instant communication instant gratification of travel and leisure within our workplace.
We know Satan duplicates everything God offers; this includes a false love a love-filled with temptations and lies. In life we have bulbs that illuminate with white light, for example, there are bulbs that illuminate a black light. There is a choice one must make with our free will provided by Yeshua, of which light we are going to journey under.
Presently there is a divide in the ecclesia as a result of all the false teachings which have permeated the leadership.
Those who have chosen the black light, burden themselves with fruitless cares for wealth and honours; sensual labour in pursuit of pleasures; being a slave of Satan and his temptations.
Those who labour to establish their own righteousness also labour in vain. The convinced sinner is heavy-laden with guilt and terror; and the tempted and afflicted believer has labours and burdens. Christ invites all to come to him for rest to their souls. He alone gives this invitation; men come to him,
And for those who have chosen to follow the bright white light of our Lord, will find, there is no dread in love. Love considers its object as good and excellent, and therefore amiable, and worthy to be beloved. Love considers God as most eminently good, and most eminently loving us in Christ, and so puts off dread, and puts on joy in him; and, as love grows, joy grows too; so that perfect love casts out fear and dread.
His love is the productive cause of ours: Of his own will (of his own free loving will) begat He us. To those that love him all things work together for good, to those who are, the called according to his purpose.
We would find this one–word Love furnishes the following: Jesus Christ hath shed his blood for us or died to wash us from our sins in his own blood. His blood applied to us discharges us from the guilt of all sin, both original and actual, inherent and committed: and so far we stand righteous in his sight; and not only so, but his blood procures for us those sacred influences by which sin is to be subdued more and more, till it is quite abolished, Galatians 3:13, Galatians 3:14
While the necessity of a holy walk is insisted upon, as the effect and evidence of the knowledge of God in Christ Jesus, the opposite error of self-righteous pride is guarded against with equal care.
All who walk near to God, in holiness and righteousness, are sensible that their best days and duties are mixed with sin. God has given testimony to the sinfulness of the world, by providing a sufficient, effectual Sacrifice for sin, needed in all ages; and the sinfulness of believers themselves is shown, by requiring them continually to confess their sins, and to apply by faith to the blood of that Sacrifice.
Let us plead guilty before God, be humble, and willing to know the worst of our case. Let us honestly confess all our sins to their full extent, relying wholly on his mercy and truth through the righteousness of Christ, for a free and full forgiveness, and our deliverance from the power and practice of sin.
For the conviction of such professors as have no true fellowship with God: If we say we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth. It is known that to walk, in scripture account, is to order and frame the course and actions of the moral life, that is, of the life so far as it is capable of subjection to the divine law. To walk in darkness is to live and act according to such ignorance, error, and erroneous practise, as are contrary to the fundamental dictates of our holy religion
Those who profess to be on his side, and to abide with him, must walk with him, walk after his pattern and example. The partisans of the several sects of philosophers of old paid great regard to the dictates and practice of their respective teachers and sect-masters; much more should the Christian, he who professes to abide in and with Christ, aim to resemble his infallible Master and head, and conform to his course and prescriptions: Then are you my friends if you do whatsoever I command you, John 15:14.
The insufficiency of all other discoveries: No man hath seen God at any time. This intimates, insufficiency of all other discoveries: No man hath seen God at any time. This intimates,
[1] That the nature of God being spiritual, he is invisible to bodily eyes, he is a being whom no man hath seen, nor can see, 1 Timothy 6:16.
We have therefore need to live by faith, by which we see him that is invisible, Hebrews 11:27
[2] That the revelation which God made of himself in the Old Testament was very short and imperfect, in comparison with that which he has made by Christ: No man hath seen God at any time that is, what was seen and known of God before the incarnation of Christ was nothing to that which is now seen and known life and immortality are now brought to a much clearer light than they were then
[3] That none of the Old-Testament prophets were so well qualified to make known the mind and will of God to the children of men as our Lord Jesus was, for none of them had seen God at any time. .
Paul charges Timothy, before Christ Jesus, to whom in a peculiar manner he stood related as a minister of his gospel: Who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession.
Observe, Christ died not only as a sacrifice but as a martyr; and he witnessed a good confession when he was arraigned before Pilate, saying (John 18:36, John 18:37), My kingdom is not of this world: I am come to bear witness unto the truth. That good confession of his before Pilate, My kingdom is not of this world, should be effectual to draw off all his followers, both ministers and people, from the love of this world.
CLOSING COMMENT by Robert
Love draws us to one word which is the most powerful. John the Baptist’s testimony concerning Christ, John 1:15. He had said (John 1:8) that he came for a witness now here he tells us that he did accordingly bear witness. Here, Observe, it was an open public testimony, proclaimed, that all manner of persons might take notice of it, for all are concerned in it. False teachers entice secretly, but wisdom publishes her dictates in the chief places of concourse.
We have received the favour of this apostleship, that is grace and a fitness for it, that is truth. Or, rather, all we believers as many as received him (John 1:16), received from him. Note, all true believers receive from Christ’s fullness the best and greatest saints cannot live without him, the meanest and weakest may live by him.
This excludes proud boasting, that we have nothing, but we have received it and silences perplexing fears, that we want nothing, but we may receive it. Let us see what it is that we have received
- We have received grace for grace. Our receivings by Christ are all summed up in this one word, grace, we have received (kai charin)–even grace, so great a gift, so rich, so invaluable we have received no less than grace this is a gift to be spoken of with an emphasis.
It is repeated, grace, for grace, for to every stone in this building, as well as to the top-stone, we must cry, Grace, grace. Observe,
(1) The blessing received. It is grace the goodwill of God towards us, and the good work of God in us. God’s goodwill works the good work, and then the good work qualifies us for further tokens of his goodwill. As the cistern receives water from the fulness of the fountain, the branches sap from the fulness of the root, and the air light from the fulness of the sun, so we receive grace from the fulness of Christ.
As well, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all, 1 John 1:5. This report asserts the excellency of the divine nature. He is all that beauty and perfection that can be represented to us by light.
Again please remember this is just a humble servant doing the bidding of the LORD I pray for a safe journey forward. A walk-in God’s love and peace, and may the “SHARING OF YOUR LIGHT” be fruitful, remember He is always with you if you hold His love in your heart forever.
