“But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.” (Matthew 20:10)
PRE-AMBLE by Robert
Have you ever, while standing in front of a mirror, gazing into your eyes, asked: “WHY?” Why, about anything which has been a part of your life. Perhaps when you are in a long line waiting to be served for whatever reason. Maybe the ever-developing relationship with Yeshua, taking the time to consider, “WHY,” you love so profoundly and in faith? Or the real purpose of your walk and relationship with Yeshua? What comes to mind was the lesson on God’s Love Is: Learn, One, Verse, Every-day. And how it applies to your question, “WHY,” in the circumstances following ?”
Then you hear this parable coming from the Holy Spirit: “And about the eleventh hour, he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all day idle?” (Matthew 20:6).
OPENING PRAYER by Robert
Father, through our unwavering faith, we bow before your throne to place our sincere gratitude for all you have provided as sustenance for our families. We thank you, Lord, for deepening our faith and filling us with your wisdom to renounce the world. Bringing us the strength to demonstrate your love and compassion, that all might recognize your support. We ask you, Lord, for blessings to all doing your bidding in their walk of faith. This we pray in your name Yeshua, Amen, and Amen.
OPENING STATEMENT by Robert
When I researched the verse, I received the following. The soul of man stands ready to be hired into some service or other it was (as all the creatures were) created to work, and is either a servant to iniquity or a servant to righteousness, (Romans 6:19). The devil, by his temptations, is hiring labourers into his field to feed swine. God, by his gospel, is hiring labourers into his vineyard, to dress it, and keep it, paradise-work.
We are put to our choice, for we must be hired, (Joshua 24:15) Choose ye this day whom ye will serve. When we choose who to serve, our “WHY” becomes; What are we hired to do? For some, the answer is “To labour,” in God’s vineyard. First, the Assembly is God’s “vineyard” it is of his planting, watering, and the fruits of it must be to his honour and praise. Secondly, we are all called to be labourers in this vineyard.
The work of believers is vineyard-work, pruning, dressing, digging, watering, weeding. Recognize as well; we have our own vineyard to keep our own soul, which is from God and should be kept and dressed for him. In this work, we must not be slothful, not loiterers, but labourers, working the vineyard and as well working out our own salvation. An idle man might go to hell, but he who will go to heaven is busy.
“No man hired us. A poor excuse,” because, had they been at their post earlier, work would have been offered them. “Go ye into the vineyard. The householder accepts the excuse, and, now that they are desiring to labour, engages them as the others, promising to give them what is fair.” Their present willingness seems to compensate for their previous tardiness. They were satisfied with being employed at all.
Matthew Henry (1662-1774) reveals Some are effectually called and begin to work in the vineyard when they are very young are sent in early in the morning, whose tender years are seasoned with grace, and the remembrance of their Creator.
John the Baptist was sanctified from the womb, and therefore great (Luke 1:15). Timothy from a child (2 Timothy 3:15), Obadiah feared the Lord from his youth. Those that have such a journey to go had need set out betimes, the sooner, the better. Secondly, Others are savingly wrought upon in middle age Go work in the vineyard, at the third, sixth, or ninth hour.
The power of divine grace is magnified in the conversion of some, when they are in the midst of their pleasures and worldly pursuits, like Paul. God, for all ages, has work, no time amiss to turn to God none can say, “It is all in good time ” for, whatever hour of the day it is with us, the time past of our life may suffice that we have served sin Go ye also into the vineyard.
God turns away none that are willing to be hired, for yet there is room. Thirdly, Others are recruited into the orchard in old age, at the eleventh hour, when the day of life is far spent, and there is but one hour of the twelve remains.
None are hired at the twelfth hour when life is done; the opportunity is done, but “while there is life, there is hope” 1. There is hope for old sinners if, sincerely, they turn to God, they shall doubtless be accepted true repentance is never too late. And 2. There is hope of old sinners that they may be brought to true repentance nothing is too hard for Almighty grace to do,
CLOSING STATEMENT by Robert
Again I ask the question when you stood before a mirror-gazing into your eyes and asked, “Why,” you didn’t expect to receive the preceding answers. All are called to make a choice of which vineyard we are going to work in. Many being idle with “one foot in the world,” will [spiritually] initially miss the call to labour in God’s vineyard. It becomes easy for us to say we were not offered work, however quickly, realize our excuse is flimsy at best and unacceptable.
Till we are hired into the service of God, we are standing idle all day: a sinful state, though a state of drudgery to Satan, may be called a state of idleness. The market-place is the world, and from that, we are called by the gospel.
Our understanding of the initial question of “WHY,” now becomes clear, What is it that Satan places before us as a temptation to lull us into a state of idleness when we know in God’s eyes being idle is a sin and leads to eternal destruction. Are we so busy and wrapped up in providing sustenance or feeding our ego’s whether worldly or spiritually we stray and lose sight.
In losing sight have, we accepted false teachings out of convenience or possibly short-cutting instead of studying and continually working at and on our Salvation. Are we thinking we’re in God’s vineyard when the reality is we are actually feeding Satan’s pigs? Satan uses delusions, and he is so subtle with them.
For example, a True definition of OBEDIENCE TO GOD: An act of deliberate will, choosing to do the will of God when made known to the believer. A full examination of the source of the command preceding intelligent decision to obey is co-existent with true obedience. Pages 50, 51, 54. Here is where we would definitely use the template shown in the article: (God’s Love is: Learn, One, Verse, Every-day). Seek a verse to verify the information (Learn, One, Verse, Every-day). If you are unable to discern that verse, then use this new formula: if the verse is number five, go back three to number two read forward from verse two, three, and four, skip five, then read verses eight, seven, and six. These six additional verses will give you the intent of verse five. Note: if the verse is between one and three, go back to the last verses in the previous chapter (Always go back three verses and ahead three verses). If the verse is within the last three verses of the chapter, go to the next chapter, and either read back or forward, whichever is required. In most cases, it’s just one verse, possibly two, but they hold background info to the main verse.
Now here is the counterfeit to OBEDIENCE TO GOD: Counterfeit of “Obedience” is a passive, automatic, blind yielding to supernatural power or voices, apart from intelligent apprehension of results or consequences. The person fears to question or examine the source of the command. Pages 50, 141 Jesse-Penn Lewis book published 1973, (Unabridged, 9th Edition) “WAR ON THE SAINTS.”
This article should give you the required information to answer your Question, “WHY?”
